"I receive letters from everywhere with questions ranging from "Are you really scared of spiders?" to "Where can I get a suit like yours?" Sometimes I receive more serious questions which are tough to answer. I decided to create this page to share some of your thoughts and questions for me."
Q: What is your favorite food? - Colby, San Jose
A: My favorite food is red beans and rice, but I also enjoy a stack of pancakes on Saturday morning with my family!
Q: We are struggling to make ends meet and I have a hard time trying to explain to my kids ages 8 and 13 why we can't go on a vacation this summer. Any suggestions? -Struggling Daddy-Man in Tampa
A: Dear Daddy-Man, first of all be honest with your children. The sooner they learn about finances the better. Second, it doesn't always take money to have a vacation. One year my wife suggested a "Family Lock In" for the entire weekend. We each choose our favorite food to eat, a couple of movies and locked ourselves in...no phone or outside visitors...and we had a blast! From a dance contest to the best cookie making, we had a great weekend, and the best part of it...we were together!
Q: Dear Daddy-Man, I am a 22 year old female who only met her father once. Recently I learned that he is gravely ill. I want to visit him, and I think of him often especially this time of year. How do I break the ice after only meeting him the one time and that was over 8 years ago? - Carla P. Washington, DC
A: Dear Carla, your kind heart is ice breaker enough. Let that be your compass in leading you to your father. Hopefully, he will have the same desires I feel you do in mending whatever fences may be broken. I wish you and your father the best.
